After a viral video purportedly showed Anne Hathaway bypassing Priyanka Chopra Jonas to welcome Zendaya at Bulgari’s fashion event in Italy, supporters of the Devil Wears Prada actress have praised the actress.
On May 16, Hathaway, Zendaya, and Chopra Jonas all travelled to Venice, Italy, to attend the debut of Bulgari’s new jewellery line. The three celebrities, who are also ambassadors for Bulgari, posed for pictures while donning beautiful Bulgari necklaces.
The Princess Diaries actor is welcomed by the Princess Diaries star as shown in a TikTok video posted by Harper’s Bazaar France. Standing next to Zendaya, Chopra Jonas observes and beams as the two kiss one other on the cheek. Before posing for photos with Bulgari CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, the three brand ambassadors seem to enhance each other’s exquisite outfits.
Despite the greetings, many spectators believed Hathaway had chosen Zendaya over Chopra Jonas at the fashion show. Others weighed in to defend the Ocean’s 8 star while some believed Hathaway “ignored” the Citadel actor.
One TikTok user said, “Why didn’t she greet Priyanka?,” in amusement.
Another remarked, “She totally ignored her.”
Another person commented, “Priyanka waited for her hug.”
Many commenters pointed out that Zendaya arrived late to the fashion show and that Hathaway had already greeted Chopra Jonas.
She didn’t pass her by. Zendaya arrived after they did,” one person remarked.
“The three of them are in another thread. They all appear to be in good condition, according to someone else.
“Guys. Another TikToker said, “Priyanka Chopra and Anne Hathaway already exchanged greetings previously. Please refrain from disparaging Anne Hathaway.
Hathaway wore an Atelier Versace gown with a high slit and an ombre gold and silver pattern to the Mediterranea High Jewellery collection premiere. She wore a dazzling dress with an attached hood and accessorised with a pink joker from Bulgari’s line.
Zendaya arrived dressed in a black, off-the-shoulder Richard Quinn gown. She wore her hair pulled back into a bun and completed her ensemble with a Bulgari silver snake necklace.
Chopra Jonas, meanwhile, chose a floor-length pink skirt and cut long-sleeve blouse, as well as a matching pink necklace.
Hathaway responded in the affirmative when asked if she and Wintour had ever discussed the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada, in which Meryl Streep portrays Miranda Priestly, a character modelled after Wintour.
But when the journalist pressed for details about what the venerable Vogue editor had “shared,” Hathaway retorted, “Why would I tell you?” before giggling out loud.
“Because I’m a fan and I need to know,” the interviewer added.
Hathaway shook her head and said, “No, but you weren’t there. The reporter stated that they “respected” Hathaway’s choice not to discuss her interaction with Wintour, and the actor thanked her for her decision.
